American world champion Fred Kerley wins the 100-meter dash in almost no wind at the Diamond League meeting in Rabat, Morocco, in 9.94 seconds.

Without the Italian Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs, who canceled on Thursday and deprived the public of the expected duel, Kerley triumphed ahead of South African Akani Simbine (9.99) and Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala (10.05).

Lore Hoffmann represents the Swiss colors in the Diamond League for the first time this season in Rabat. The Walliser fell short of expectations over 800 m with a 6th place in 2:01.37 minutes. She runs the first round as usual at the end of the field. On the home straight, the 26-year-old can only intercept two runners.

The top performance of the evening is delivered by the Moroccan folk hero Soufiane El Bakkali over a tower of 3000 meters. The Olympic and world champion attacks the world record. The 27-year-old set a personal best of 7:56.68 minutes, three seconds short of Saif Saaeed Shaheen’s 19-year-old record – the Katari ran to Kenya under the name Stephen Cherono until 2002. (SDA)
