Ferrolterra occupies a small place in my football career, and it’s been more than ten years since I had the good fortune to wear the Galicia de Mugardos jersey of my friends Domingo and Caca; A year later I ended up at the friendliest club I’ve ever been to, Eume Deportivo, and every game was fun there. Before and after, football was the least important except when the Ferrolterra Cup was approaching: it was there that the best of each eumé came out. In 2012, we lifted the cup in A Malata with the hand of Juan Bacarros. What comforting memories!
Talking about Ferrol and Racing is talking about Pablo Rey and Joselu. The former managed to be one of the most determined players of Segunda B with his sophisticated shots and good relationship with the ball; the second, a benchmark, a soccer spectacle that countless times had offers from other clubs from higher categories, but “Joselu always played where he chose”, and that is available to few.
This Saturday we will be attending what we hope will be the last event of the season in Ferrol, not counting the weekend Patín Classic and Nachiños Fest obviously, at least I’m not missing them. But as for the Parrals, let’s hope so. And that’s it what Racing has done this year is available to few, losing their two backs, Pumar and Luca, in the first third of the league when everything was as it was. And even so, losing face in front of the leadership on Christmas, they did not stop believing that they arrived on time in everything.
There may be something inherent in Parral and Manjarín to give importance to everyday life and demand despite the fact that the results are consistent or not as expected, but what we are sure of is that there is no coincidence. And there they are, just one game away from returning to the silver category of Spanish football. Where we will hopefully see green fans fill the stadium.
There are many Racing players I have faced or shared the dressing room with. I believe this human group deserves what is coming; and that is that, I insist, at least in this football there are no coincidences. Another one who is rarely talked about but has made the club one of the leading players in the category is none other than Carlos Mouriz. Lugo, the city dedicated to Breogán, has already done this, managed to bring professional football to Anxo Carro, and will now do the same in Ferrol. If not this year, it will be next, because he is convincing and hardworking, everything he touches makes him better. In short, good things don’t necessarily have to be abroad, we often have them at home.
Ferrol is cool.
