Borussia Dortmund wants to win its 9th national title on Saturday and celebrate it in the city on Sunday. The victory in the last game of the season against Mainz is still missing. Dortmund has been preparing for the state of emergency for some time.
A huge rush is expected: the Signal Iduna Park (more than 81,000 places) has been sold out for weeks, but BVB has received hundreds of thousands of other ticket requests in recent days. The organizers expect around 400,000 fans along the route from Borsigplatz to Dortmunder U for the championship parade through the city, scheduled for Sunday.
Monster prices for tickets and accommodation
Hotel rooms are already scarce, so 97 percent of all hotels in Dortmund would be occupied. The fans have to dig deep into their pockets for the few rooms that are still available. The prices are over 800 euros – per night! Private providers even offer their apartments for more than 1000 euros.
Those who want to be present live in a sold-out stadium at the possible victory of the championship will also have to deal with horrific prices. Up to 3,300 euros are requested online for two tickets, Mainz supporters offer their tickets at top prices of around 800 euros.
No public viewing
Another big blow to Dortmund fans without a ticket: there will be no major public screening in Dortmund on the day of the match. According to a spokesman, the city could not agree on a transfer with broadcaster Sky. Restaurateurs were not allowed to broadcast in public space for safety reasons, including to prevent overcrowding in the city center.
