Seven million tickets have already been sold for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The presale of tickets for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris is still going well despite the high prices. “Fourteen months before the matches, we have already sold 6.8 million tickets. This shows a very strong enthusiasm,” said organization chief Tony Estanguet (45) on Tuesday. “This is a significant achievement in terms of sales exceeding our targets,” said Estanguet.

In the two sales phases, the second of which has just been completed, according to Estanguet, almost 5.2 million of the 8 million tickets have been sold. In addition, 1.6 million tickets were sold, which were reserved for the state and officials, among others. According to the 45-year-old, the remaining 2.8 million tickets should probably go on sale “in the summer” in a subsequent sales phase.

High prices have been criticized

The advance sale of tickets for the games in the French capital has been accompanied by persistent criticism over prices. A survey last March showed that about four in five French people thought the tickets were too expensive. The third Olympic Games in the city on the Seine after 1900 and 1924 will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. (AFP/mbi)
