For once everyone at FC Luzern is satisfied at shareholder level. Both Josef Bieri, who managed to find nine new shareholders despite the legal dispute, and Bernhard Alpstaeg. The 77-year-old, who, like everyone else, heard about a report in the “Luzerner Zeitung” about the expansion of the shareholder base, is impressed. His spokesperson Sacha Wigdorovits can be aligned. “He is very pleased that established entrepreneurial personalities are joining the shareholders.”

He is particularly pleased that the new investors are anchored in Central Switzerland. Finally, in March, he called for participation at a meeting of the Club der 200 donors’ association. “It’s positive for the FCL. It’s about the club and not Bieri or Alpstaeg,” says Wigdorovits.

Not concerned at all

At the same time, the communications consultant from Zurich emphasizes that it is up to Bieri what he does with his shares. Just like Walter Stierli when he sold the shares to Alpstaeg. Wigdorovits does not want to further explain that with Samih Sawiris and Hans Schmid, two former shareholders who are at odds with Alpstaeg are back. “We don’t know their motives.”

However, Alpstaeg is by no means concerned about this. He doesn’t even think about giving up. “Of course not,” emphasizes Wigdorovits. The expansion of the shareholder base has no influence on the legal dispute. “This is solely a dispute between Bernhard Alpstaeg and the board of directors of FCL Holding.” When and if Alpstaeg will approach the new shareholders is an open question. “We haven’t talked about that yet.”
