This Saturday, the time trial of the Spanish Championship is taking place in the Area area

This weekend, A Mariña becomes the Spanish capital of Paralympic cycling. Specialty aces fight for national thrones in Viveiro and Xove, just a week before the third round of the World Cup in Hutsville (Alabama, United States of America). The Viveiro cycling club, which will offer the entire competition in streaming on its YouTube channel, is organizing the Spanish championship in which about 150 athletes will participate, and this Saturday from 16:00 they will hold a time trial near the Area beach.

There, a 5.4-kilometer track will be designed, on which more or less laps will be driven, depending on the category. In the online testing on Sunday — at 9 a.m. for hand bikes and tricycles and at 11:30 a.m. for bikes and tandems — the course covers 21 kilometers with “demanding and spectacular sections that will allow both fans and athletes to enjoy themselves”, the Spanish cycling federation points out in the test that co-organized with the Galician Union and on which the Xunta and the Councils of Viveira and Xovea cooperate.

Among the favorites, Ricardo Ten stands out in the C1 division; Maurice Eckard and Markel Alonso in C2; Eduardo Santas in C3; Juan Alberto Jiménez and Pedro Sánchez-Migallón in C4; Damián Ramos and José Diego Jara in C5; or the “beautiful duel” between Christian Venge-Noel Martín and Joan Sansó-Abraham del Caño in tandems.
