Daniil Medvedev triumphs in the semifinals of Rome against his arch-rival Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Rune defeated Norwegian Casper Ruud (ATP 4) in the semifinals 6: 7 (2: 7), 6: 4, 6: 2 after trailing 2: 4 in the second set. Medvedev won against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP 5) with 7: 5, 7: 5. This match was stopped for a long time due to the rain.

Rune and Medvedev have met once before, on clay in Monte Carlo last April when the Dane won 6-3, 6-4. Medvedev already has 19 tournament victories on the ATP tour, four this year, but a win on sand would be a first for him. Rune has already won two titles on this basis, most recently in Munich in April. In Rome he knocked out the top seeded Serbian Novak Djokovic in three sets in the quarterfinals. (SDA)
