The dismissal followed in January 2023 after an interruption of more than two years. Thabo Sefolosha returned to his regular club Vevey Riviera, with the elimination of the Vaud in the quarter-finals of the play-offs against Union Neuchâtel (2: 3), he now wants to end his active career permanently.
The 39-year-old was the first Swiss to make the leap to the NBA. He was drafted 13th in 2006 and played for the Chicago Bulls the following season.
Five NBA teams
In addition to the Bulls, Sefolosha also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta Hawks, Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets in the NBA. In total, he made 869 qualifying appearances and 96 play-off appearances over a 14-year period (2006-2020).
He reached the finals with Oklahoma in 2012, when his teammates included Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden. The Miami Heat (with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh) won the best-of-7 series 4-1.
Sefolosha remains in basketball. The Swiss federation recently appointed him as “Players Development Manager”. (SDA/yap)
