land below! A storm is raging in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. Heavy rain warning. Severe thunderstorm warning. High wind warning. Thousands of people have been evacuated from the area and at least three people have been killed.
Formula 1 is also affected by the storm. The GP of Emilia-Romagna has been cancelled. The circuit is surrounded by water. The green spaces normally used for parking are flooded. The meteorologists report that after the weather has calmed down on Thursday, a new bad weather zone is already approaching, which will bring even more rain and thunder.
The problem is also the Santerno river, which is close to the Imola circuit and has to bring in a lot of water from its tributaries in the hills of Emilia-Romagna. There is no race here.
At the start of the week, the teams settled into the paddock, after which the rest of the build-up was halted. 160,000 tickets were sold for the race weekend. Efforts are being made to carry out the GP at a later date. Due to the tight schedule, however, this should be an impossibility.
Anyway, we leave for Monaco next week. On May 28, the infamous street race will take place there.
