Must stand still for a long time: goalkeeper Heinz Lindner.

Shock in Zion: goalkeeper Heinz Lindner suffers from testicular cancer. The 32-year-old announced this on Instagram. “I was recently diagnosed with a tumor in my left testicle. You can certainly imagine that this diagnosis hit me hard.”

He underwent surgery a few days ago, “which went really well,” Lindner said. However, the season is over for the keeper. In the current season, Lindner played 28 league matches for FC Sion, most recently he had to take a break due to a broken metacarpal bone.

Not the only professional football player

In the comments below the message, Lindner’s ex-club FC Basel, his youth club Austria Vienna and Nati defender Eray Cömert write their wishes for recovery. The message is the same everywhere: come back stronger!

Lindner is not the first professional football player to be diagnosed with testicular cancer. With Timo Baumgartl (Union Berlin), Marco Richter, former Basel player Jean-Paul Boëtius (both Hertha Berlin) and Sébastien Haller (Dortmund), four Bundesliga players announced their diagnosis last year. All four are back on the field since their successful fight. That should also encourage Lindner. (mom/tired)
