The Dallas Stars are in the semifinals of the NHL playoffs for the second time in three years. They defeated the Seattle Kraken 2-1 in the deciding game of the best-of-7 series.
The Stars, who qualified fourth in the West and are looking for their second Stanley Cup win since 1999, took the lead in the 36th minute with a goal from leading scorer Roope Hintz. Just under seven minutes from time, Wyatt Johnston (20) made it 2-0 with a remarkable backhand shot into the nearest high corner.
The guests did not want to do more than Oliver Bjorkstrand’s goal 18 seconds before the end. Still in its sophomore year, the Seattle Kraken had a successful season. The team had knocked out the defending champion Colorado Avalanche the previous round.
