In the area reserved for away fans, the police found pyrotechnic devices that could be activated remotely
The start of the match between Toulouse and Nantes, on the thirty-fifth day of Ligue 1, was postponed this Sunday due to a bomb threat around the Municipal Stadium.
The drop, originally scheduled for 15:00 CET (13:00 GMT), was delayed by at least an hour and a half. Several suspicious packages were found and examined in the Nantes supporters’ stands, including, according to the local club, several fireworks prepared for remote activation.
Toulouse issued the following statement:
“As part of the security checks before any opening of the stands, three suspicious devices were discovered inside the stadium, the Revault stand. Immediately mobilized, the demining service intervened at the scene. The presence of three pyrotechnic devices that can be activated remotely has been confirmed. They are neutralized. After eliminating all doubts, in agreement with the prefectural and judicial authorities, two clubs, the French football league, DN LH and the refereeing body, it was decided to postpone the start of the sports meeting at 4:30 pm and to grant access to all stands from 3:15 pm. The prefectural and judicial authorities strongly condemn this malicious action, which is against the values of sport. They thank the security services for their reaction.”
