Salome Lang makes a successful comeback at the spring meeting in Basel. After a long break from injury and two back operations, the high jumper impresses with 1.87 m.
For the Swiss record holder (1.97 m) it is the first competition since the Olympic Games in Tokyo in August 2021. With a jump of 1.87 m on the second attempt, the 26-year-old from Basel is more than satisfied.
“I was able to train well, but had no idea how high the competition would be. I would have been happy with 1.80 m. It’s great that it is now 1.87 m,” says Lang happy.
Ehammer breaks personal hurdle record
Decathlete Simon Ehammer is worried about two more top results on the Basler Schützenmatte. The silver medalist of the European Championships impressed with 8.12 m in his parade discipline long jump and 13.43 seconds over 110 m hurdles.
The Appenzeller improves his personal best, which he ran three years ago at the Swiss championships in the same stadium, with five hundredths. Ehammer can look forward to the all-round meeting in Götzis in two weeks with confidence. (SDA)
