They left Courchevel/Méribel with World Cup gold in the downhill. And now they have been voted Athlete of the Year at the first Swiss Ski Night: Marco Odermatt (25) and Jasmine Flury (29). The triumph of the Nidwaldner on the red carpet in Oerlikon ZH is logical: among other things, he was also the overall World Cup winner and also won the giant slalom world title. A jury of experts gave Odermatt the most votes. Odermatt was also No. 1 among the spectators, who voted him their fan favorite.

Flury’s victory, on the other hand, was probably less clear – the exact results were not made public. The Graubündense Monstein from Davos doesn’t care. “I’m honored,” she says. Now she is looking forward to the holiday in Corsica anyway. Your plans? “Don’t plan anything,” she says with a smile. “There would be big waterfalls there, with small lakes. And of course I’m on the beach.” But she’s not a water rat, preferring to splash rather than swim, says Flury.

Zenhäusler: “No ball feeling”

The Social Media Award, on the other hand, went to Ramon Zenhäusler (31). “I was kitesurfing, now the first fitness block with the team will follow soon,” says the Valais slalom crack.

Zenhauser would have to do without anything above all: ball sports. “I don’t have a good feeling for the ball. I used to do everything diligently in football,” he says with a laugh.
