Fans of FC Basel destroyed seven public transport buses during the Conference League match in Florence on Thursday. Autolinee Tuscany will report to the police, the Italian news agency Ansa reported on Saturday.
The city had provided Basel fans with ten public transport buses to travel from the city center to the Artemio Franchi stadium for the Conference League match between FC Basel and Fiorentina.
The doors of seven of the vehicles were smashed, kicked in or ripped out, Ansa wrote, citing the bus company involved. The surveillance cameras in the buses were also systematically demolished.
“This is a serious blow not only to the company, but also to citizens and users, for whom the vehicles are no longer available until the repairs are completed,” said Autolinee Tuscany.
According to Ansa, 2,000 Swiss fans marched through the center of Florence on Thursday afternoon, disrupting public transport by occupying tram tracks, among other things. (SDA/pam)
