The object of desire: Youngster Connor Bedard is already considered an exceptional talent at the age of 18.

The Chicago Blackhawks won the lottery on Monday and will be the first NHL team to pick a player on June 28 in Nashville.

The six-time Stanley Cup winner (most recently in 2015) is expected to choose Connor Bedard. The almost 18-year-old striker from Canada is regarded as a generational talent. Last season, he was good for 81 goals and 82 assists in 64 games in the Canadian junior league WHL.

In Chicago, Bedard could become a teammate of Swiss player Philipp Kurashev, who has played 70 games for the Blackhawks this season but has not yet received a contract extension. (SDA/dti)
