Referee Alessandro Dudic has his hands full with the FC Basel – FC Zurich match and shortly before the end of the match, emotions run high after a penalty whistle from the lawyer. To the dismay of the citizens of Basel, it is clearly a swallow by FCZ’s own child, Bledian Krasniqi. But: All interference with the impartial does not yield anything.
A day after the turbulent game, Dudic spoke to “blue News” about the penalty and was insightful. “When I entered the cloakroom, I saw the photos for the first time and realized the decision was wrong.” Dudic explains in more detail: “It’s not necessary to talk about it, it’s swallowing.”
But why didn’t the VAR intervene? “On the field I had the impression that Lang was sticking his leg out. The matter was clear to me. The VAR then very quickly checked the scene and decided to contact. He confirmed my original decision.”
Dudic admits that there was a communication problem between himself and the video referee. After the game, the man from Bern first had to process the scene, so he did not immediately make himself available for interviews. “It was just too early. That was not good for anyone so soon after the game.”
