Valtteri Bottas: The 2023 Miami GP is his 205th World Championship race.

They are the dreams and hopes that have accompanied drivers and teams in Formula 1 for years. Like in normal life. Lewis Hamilton is dreaming of his 104th GP triumph after 28 races without a win – and Mercedes of old competitiveness. Ferrari wants and must finally win again after 16 World Cup races. You can also forget a world title in 2023. And Aston-Martin-Mercedes will soon complete its new green mission with a triumph. With old master Fernando Alonso (41), who contests his 360th Grand Prix today.

The Spaniard or Hamilton (315th GP) will probably fulfill their dream: first GP winner with more than 300 races!

“We need to improve drastically”

And what does a ten-time winner dream of with 20 pole positions, 19 fastest laps and 67 podium finishes in 204 races? The Finn Valtteri Bottas (33), in the millions of Alfa-Sauber services since 2022, gives the answer in the Formula 1 podcast “Beyond the Grid”: “We have to improve drastically if we want to move forward. Fortunately, the motivation is still there always. Because the gaps behind the front are very small, you as a driver can make a difference. Because basically there is nothing wrong with our car. We are good at slow corners. We still have a handicap when it comes to top speed and in fast corners!”

resigning is not a problem

Today Bottas, a good seventh in the third practice, starts tenth. And what is possible now? Bottas: «My personal goal for 2023 is clearly a podium! When you’re at the start, you always have a chance in Formula 1. And I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.”

One of the most likeable GP pilots has been putting his name on products such as coffee and gin for some time now. He would also invest in real estate. In addition, he has a good management team around him in ex-world champion Mika Häkkinen (54).

In a recent interview with the “Herald Sun” in Melbourne, Bottas even said: “I’ve been dreaming of the world title since the first race!” Well, he’s missed that in his five Mercedes years alongside Hamilton.
