— How did the opportunity to sign for Arenal Emevé come about?

— I had my first contact at the Princess Cup, which we played in A Coruña with Rubén. He told me about a project they wanted to do, and we went deeper from there. In fact, I’ve already been here a few times to see how they work. It was very easy to fit my figure into what they wanted.

— And what kind of claim is this project?

— This is an ambitious project that wants to go one step further. What is wanted is to grow with structure, that is, to lay good foundations. And from there you will see the results. The club must always be ambitious and fight for titles, but it must not be a priority. And that is that it is bad to let yourself be carried away by the results.

— What will be your role in Arenal Emevé?

— I will focus a lot on the lower categories. I want to create a game model for the whole club. It is very important and a perfect base for us to compete for titles. You can work very well at Arenal Emevé, because we are talking about a club that moves 500 players. And there we can choose what kind of athletes we want to train, because the goal is for them to end up in the first teams.

— Do you think that you will combine the position of coach of the first women’s team and technical leadership?

— My idea is to finish and focus on technical guidance, although next season I will also be the coach of the first team. But it’s clear to me that I don’t want to spend a lot of time on the bench and instead focus on technical management.

— You can understand from his words that he wants to help organize the club.

— That’s right, because with the road plan we make, we will be in a position to compete for titles in more or less time.

— Did you arrive with the idea of ​​putting down roots in Luga?

—[Sonríe] Yes, I came to Lugo with that idea, because I don’t feel like constantly moving anymore. When I got to Cartagena, I also did it with that idea. I signed for a club that is currently a big rapper for Spanish volleyball.

—Can you say that he is the one who works the base the best?

—Arenal Emevé and Sant Cugat are two benchmarks for grassroots volleyball. You have to understand that Emevé has two teams in the first division, and to that you have to add those 500 young promises in the lower categories.

—Will Arenal Emevé be ready to fight for titles soon?

— It is clear to me that if we work within the parameters that we will manage and follow the itinerary and approaches that we have, Arenal Emevé will be on top in the fight for titles. But you have to be patient. There is talent there, and if we do the formation well, it will help us in the fight for titles.

— When will you arrive in Lugo?

—I already work for Arenal Emevé, and the idea is to be in Lugo in two weeks.

— Will you still be the Spanish coach?

-Yes of course. It is perfectly compatible.

— You talk about talent, and undoubtedly one of the references of this Arenal Emevé is Carolina Camino, how do you see her?

—Carolina is a project for the future and is very talented. Following the right path is sure to explode in no time. He has a high level, and what he needs is to play competitions like the European Championship.
