The SFV reported a loss of CHF 2.37 million for fiscal year 2022 – despite exceptional income of CHF 1.7 million from the national team’s participation in the World Cup in Qatar. The finance committee states that cuts are “absolutely necessary” in the future. “If this fails, the remaining equity will be rapidly and continuously used up in the coming years.” At the end of 2022, equity amounted to CHF 19.3 million. A loss of 732,000 francs is estimated for 2023, with provisions of 500,000 francs being reversed.

From the point of view of the association, however, there are also encouraging figures. With 314,000 licensed players (April 2023), there are more football players than before the corona pandemic. For girls/women alone, the number rose from 30,000 to 34,000 last year. The association can also look back on a successful year from a sporting point of view. The men’s national team reached the round of 16 in Qatar, the women’s and the U21 national team qualified for the finals of the World Cup and European Championship. And a few weeks ago, the SFV received the 2025 Women’s European Championship.
