Madness from Anfield: Liverpool lost a 3-0 lead against Tottenham Hotspur to finally celebrate an insane 4-3 win. After the winning goal, Reds coach Jürgen Klopp (55) cheers exuberantly for the linesman. Then he collapses and grabs his leg, his face twisted in pain.
Klopp injured himself while celebrating a goal when he shouted something in the linesman’s face: During his run, the 55-year-old suddenly grabbed the back of his right thigh.
Lips tight, he stumbles away from the linesman, who has just pissed him off. The BBC later says Klopp: “I don’t know if it was the thigh, it could also be the adductor, but I was immediately punished.”
pain and yellow card
“It hurts,” Klopp told Sky Sports. “The festivities were unnecessary.” His emotions were bottled up throughout the game due to some controversial scenes. He didn’t say anything bad, but I looked at him, that’s bad enough. The thigh or any muscle gave way at that point. That’s only fair. Everything else is fine.”
The scene was not lost on the referee. He drew the yellow card towards Klopp. “What he said when he showed me the yellow card is not okay,” Klopp said. Nothing is known about the content of the altercation. (kes)
