FC Stade Nyonnais is in the middle of the promotion race. Now the Swiss Football League is throwing a spanner in the works for the residents of Vaud. As the residents of Vaud announced in a statement, they will not travel to St. Gallen for Saturday’s scheduled match against SC Brühl. “Although the board is aware of the consequences of this decision, it takes full responsibility.” The club writes that it is intended to express the rejection and misunderstanding of the decision of the Swiss Football League.
Relationship with Challenge Leagues
The reason for the rejection of the license application is said to be the family connection between Nyonnais president Sassoun Sirmakes and the Challenge League club Stade Lausanne-Ouchy.
