The Official Gazette of Galicia (DOGA) has published an order establishing the regulatory framework and calling for subsidies for the purchase of sports equipment for adapted sports for Galician sports clubs that have licenses for athletes with disabilities.
These subsidies are included in the Plan for the Promotion of Equality in Sport within the Plan for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience (funded by the European Union) and which will have a budget of around 227,000 euros. Beneficiaries will be Galician sports clubs that had licenses for athletes with disabilities in the previous or current season. The Xunta de Galicia will cover 80% of eligible costs, and the maximum amount of assistance will be 5,000 euros.
Sports practice, at the competitive level, is characterized by the need for a series of sports equipment that facilitates and improves the conditions in which the athlete develops his specialty. In this sense, it is necessary to arbitrate the system of public subsidies intended for the purchase of equipment, in order to contribute to the modernization and modernization of the sports equipment necessary for the proper practice of sports, which is available to the above entities. In particular, attention to the population group with some kind of disability becomes an unavoidable challenge for public authorities, in order to make their freedom and equality real and effective, removing the obstacles that prevent or prevent their fullness.
