On February 27, the British tax authorities HMRC filed for bankruptcy against former footballer Wes Brown. Now, after almost two months, the verdict is: the former ManUtd icon (1996-2011) is bankrupt. Despite earning an estimated £50,000 a month playing football, Brown was formally declared bankrupt in a Manchester court on Thursday.
The private disaster ran its course a year ago. Last summer, Wes Brown separated from his wife, with whom he had been together since 2009 and who has three children.
With the exception of a brief stint (2017-2018 Kerala Blasters, India), Brown has played in England all his life. Longest spell at Manchester United (1996–2011). Then at Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers.
