Line judges David Obwegeser and Dominik Altmann try to separate fighters Marco Maurer and Yannick Rathgeb.

Servette will have to face Biel in the fifth game of the play-off final on Saturday without Marco Maurer. The defenseman was handed his second game misconduct penalty of the playoffs on Thursday, resulting in a game suspension. Maurer was also fined 1,500 francs. The Geneva-based company can appeal the ruling tomorrow afternoon.

The 35-year-old is said to have insulted a referee in the first third after a ruckus at the Geneva gates. After the 2:3 defeat, he sat in the referee’s booth with sports director Marc Gautschi.

Maurer later received his first game misconduct penalty because of the video footage. In the first final match, he was guilty of hitting Tino Kessler in the back of his knee with a stick. (sr/sda)
