Shortly after the cup semi-final against YB the week before (2:4), hooded FCB fans attacked the security personnel. Three people were seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital.
The incident came about because the external security company Protectas had an FCB supporter under control. The company is only allowed to intervene in the St. Jakob Park if the FCB security service requests it, which was not the case.
Now, almost two weeks later, FCB responds: “An extra external security service, such as Protectas, is no longer used at FCB’s home games,” the club writes in a statement.
FCB security partner Pantex AG will now provide all security services in St. Jakob-Park together with the “FCB subsidiary” Stadiondienst AG. The new concept was already used last Thursday in the Conference League match against Nice (2-2). (par)
