The walls often shake in life. When it gets a little louder. Music, neighbours, airplanes. But if that was ever the case with the walls, it was Saturday night at 9:20 p.m. at Lucerne’s Swissporarena. FC Zürich practically reduced the whistle at FC Luzern to 1: 2 out of the blue with a dream goal from Mathew. But coach Bo Henriksen doesn’t care about that.

On the contrary, he tries to shout a certain satisfaction from his players about the goal right away. In any case, it gets so loud that – well – the walls vibrate. And you can hear the speech very well in the adjoining press room. Which, of course, entices journalists to enter the corridor where the door to the cloakroom wing is. And to record what roars from the cab.

When this becomes known, they will be asked to delete the recordings.

It is the special architectural features that make it possible to hear everything. Because the cloakroom wing is only separated by a glass door from the next rooms, where journalists and a room further VIPs are located.

Henriksen’s succinct answer: “No”

When a journalist at the media conference discovered that Henriksen’s words during the intermission had apparently gone nowhere, he gratefully accepted the offer and simply said, “No.” The question arises what exactly the Dane said during the break. Well, on SRF he avoids the issue of his speech – by not even responding to it. Instead, he says, “We’re going to die right after the break with the 3:1.” It must be frustrating for a coach to yell so loudly – and all that happens after that is the next goal.

That is why Henriksen speaks frankly: “It was a bad first half. By far the worst performance and the only game we’ve really been bad at since I’ve been here. There was no strength, no energy, no faith. The 1:4 was fully deserved. Yes, we even deserved to lose more.”

Does St. Gallen have to pay now?

His players did not engage in duels and did not even receive a single yellow card. “At one point it was just a matter of not going all the way down.” But Henriksen promises: “This team will fight back.” It is the indirect threat to FC St. Gallen, FCZ’s opponents next Sunday, that they will look very different. “Because for five months, since the derby defeat against GC, we have delivered top performances,” said the Dane. “I was so proud of the players. The defeats were unfortunate. Now we have to hate ourselves. And then we will come back.”

In the 2023 year table, FCZ is still in third place behind YB and FCL, with a strong 18 points. You just have to take into account from the city club that the distance to the last place is still not reassuring. Vulkan Henriksen will take care of that.
