Historical And Galician football congress Ball on the ground started today at Santiago de Compostela with the visit of Andre Camps and Alfredo Olivares, general secretary and competition director of the Spanish Football Association. Both held a working meeting with all the Galician clubs active in the national category, and the meeting was held in the Amancio Amaro hall at the headquarters RFGF in Santiago de Compostela.
The match was officiated by Rafael Louzán and a very wide representation of Galician clubs from all national categories, including Celta, Deportivo, Lugo, Racing de Ferrol and Pontevedra, among many others.
Louzán thanked Camps and Olivares for their presence at this act, which serves as the initial signal for the Congress, and highlighted the presence of such a large number of teams at the meeting. He highlighted the “enormous growth of Galician football” in recent years, from just over 60,000 licenses in 2015 to “almost 107,000 we currently have”. And, above all, he emphasized the coming Congress to reflect the Board of Directors’ desire to include the whole of Galician football in the decisions that affect its future.
This Friday, the general secretary of the federation, Andreu Camps, conveyed to the Galician clubs of the national category all the proposals on the new Law on Sports and its effects on football. An interesting presentation in which Camps showed his extraordinary knowledge of the subject.
Alfredo Olivares, for his part, the director of the competition, presented to the Galician entities the competition model according to which Spanish football is run. He spoke about the characteristics of men’s and women’s competitions in the organization of the federation, explaining the changes that have taken place since the arrival of Luis Rubiales as president. Both made themselves available to the clubs and answered their concerns on a very positive day.
More than 500 clubs will participate in the congress this Saturday
The Galician Federation will make history tomorrow by launching a congress, an event in which all federal levels (footballers, coaches, referees and club leaders) will participate and which will be a strategic way of listening to the needs of our affiliates. It will be the first time in history that Galician football meets to decide its future.
