Alexis Pinturault has a new coach.

French skier Alexis Pinturault (32) has a lot in common with Austria. On the one hand, his winter base is in Altenmarkt, on the other hand, his sponsor Red Bull comes from there.

And now he is being looked after by an Austrian coach. Martin Sprenger moves from his home country to Pinturault. “An offer you simply cannot refuse,” Sprenger told the “Krone”. “Otherwise I would be wrong in my work. It’s a challenge you have to accept.”

13 years for Austria

Sprenger has been working for the Austrian Ski Federation since 2010. He was primarily responsible for the athletes competing in both the speed disciplines and the giant slalom. His proteges have included ex-driver Hannes Reichelt (42, 2015 Super-G World Champion) and Matthias Mayer (32, three-time Olympic champion) and most recently Raphael Haaser (25), who won bronze in the combination at the World Championships.

Now Sprenger should also make Pinturault faster. The overall 2020/21 World Cup winner is still missing a podium finish in the downhill in his palmares. In all other disciplines (Super-G, giant slalom, combination, slalom and parallel races) he has even won at least one race in his career. His new coach should now help the French to close this gap.
