Presenter Monica Lierhaus is back – here at an event in early April in Hamburg.

Monica Lierhaus is back. For the first time since her fate, the popular sports presenter is back in front of the camera.

Prior to the Europa League match between Leverkusen and Union Saint-Gilloise, Lierhaus gives an interview on RTL. She seems calm, optimistic and full of expectation. The words come out a little wonky at first. But the professional is quickly back in his element. “I feel very good. Especially because I can be here in the stadium,” she says laughing again and again. “I really enjoy being in the stadium. Atmosphere, escape lighting, fans – fantastic.”

“I’m just happy to be back.”Monica Lierhaus

In 2009, Lierhaus suffered complications following an operation. The woman from Hamburg was kept artificially in a coma. Later she had to learn to walk and talk again. To this day, she still struggles with health issues.

She never gave up. She is back 14 years after her last job as a reporter.

The next peak will follow in June. Then Lierhaus comes into action at the international match of the German national team in Gelsenkirchen. “I can hardly describe it, I’m really looking forward to it,” she says.

RTL also plans differently with the 52-year-old. Lierhaus is going to take over several sports formulas. Among other things, the Special Olympics, the games for people with intellectual disabilities. “I’m just happy to be back.” And the TV viewers are happy with her. (mom)
