National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg has extended her contract until the European Championship 2025. DFB chairman Bernd Neuedorf announced this on Monday. Until now, the 55-year-old has been stuck at the World Cup this summer.
Voss-Tecklenburg had led the DFB team to the final against hosts England (1:2 aet) at last summer’s European Championship. The 125-time international has been in office since the end of 2018, the next title hunt is at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand (July 20 to August 20). There, two-time world champions Germany will meet Morocco, Colombia and South Korea in the group stage.
Another collaboration was already indicated after last year’s European Championship. “I would like to stay until after the 2027 World Cup,” Voss-Tecklenburg told Sport Bild in December. The DFB has recently confirmed its interest in organizing the tournament together with the Netherlands and Belgium. (AFP/mab)
