An era is coming to an end: Berni Schödler (51) leaves Swiss-Ski after 13 years. At the end of the season, the 51-year-old Graubünden will retire as head of the ski jumping and Nordic combined disciplines. It is not yet clear who will fill the vacant position.
With the exception of a two-year hiatus, Schödler has held various positions at Swiss-Ski since 1997. He celebrated his first major success as national coach in 2002, when Simon Ammann flew to the double Olympic victory in Salt Lake City. In 2010, after coaching abroad, he returned to the association as head of discipline.
In recent years, Schödler has also worked part-time for the international ski association FIS. He will continue his role as Race Director in the Continental Cup and Junior World Championships.
Zurbuchen takes over from Flatscher
As Swiss-Ski reports in a subsequent press release, Werner Zurbuchen will be given another position within the Swiss Alpine team. From next season he will be in charge of young talent and succeed Hans Flatscher, who has been promoted to Alpine Director. (SDA)
