The Swiss national team can also be seen on MySports during the World Cup.

It is known that MySports as a pay channel broadcasts the entire National League, the Champions Hockey League, NHL games and the World Junior Championships. But now the hockey broadcaster is also broadcasting the world hockey championships for the first time, which will take place from 12 to 28 May in Tampere (Fi) and Riga (Let). All 64 matches will be broadcast live on the channel.

This in collaboration with Blue Sport, which owns the Swiss wage rights for the World Cup. The matches including commentary are provided by Blue Sport – MySports takes over the signal and broadcasts the matches on its channels. Such a collaboration would have been unthinkable a few years ago.

Only two months without hockey

“It’s a great added value for our subscribers. Now there is live hockey on the station from August to the end of May,” says Toby Stüssi, Head of Content at MySports.

Only: when MySports broadcast this on its channels over the weekend, the fans couldn’t really believe it. In social media comments, many thought it was an April Fool’s joke. “No, no, it’s true,” Stüssi explains with a smile and provides clarity.

Of course the World Cup can still be seen on SRF. Because SRG owns the free TV rights and can use it to broadcast all national team matches and other selected matches – but not all of them.
