Two champions are crowned today in Fleurier in the Val de Travers. The return leg of the Finalissima will take place for both the U20s and the U17s.
The U17 juniors start at 11 a.m. (can be seen live). The SCL Tigers defeated EHC Biel 5:1 yesterday. However, the team of ex-Nati defender Samuel Balmer does not get anywhere with the result. Should the Seeländer win the second leg after 60 minutes, extra time will follow. If the Tigers win or tie, the U17 crown goes to the Emmental.
In the U20, the GCK Lions, who defeated Quali-Dominator Zug 3-0 in the semi-finals with numerous players with professional experience, won the first leg against Lugano 5-2.
Lions with four players with NL experience
Lions coach Fabio Schwarz, with defenders Daniil Ustinkov, Noah Meier and Silvan Landolt and striker Marvin Graf, who played in the play-offs in Biel on Friday, could fall back on four players who already played in NL this season.
The Ticino team even had a striker, Marco Zanetti, who played a key role in the pro playoffs. Defender Nicolò Ugazzi and strikers Riccardo Werder and Yves Stoffel also played for the Bianconeri in the National League.
Zanetti gave Lugano a 1-0 lead before Zurich turned the tide thanks to goals from U20 and Swiss League striker Joel Henry, Benjamin Quinn, Sebastian Steiner, Alessandro Segafredo and Daniel Olsson.
The second leg will take place on Sunday at 3.45 pm (also live on Blick TV). Lugano need a win after 60 minutes to force extra time. (sr)
