Delia Durrer also wins the Super-G after the downhill.

2. Stephanie Jenal +0.08
3. Juliana Suter +0.76

The race

Delia Durrer became Swiss downhill champion for the third time in a row on Wednesday. Spurred on by this success, she started the day later in the Super-G with starting number 1. And shows a ride where the participants grit their teeth.

However, the best Super-G riders in the country are not among them. Neither defending champion Corinne Suter nor Lara Gut-Behrami, who won the discipline classification in the World Cup, will take part in the race in Verbier. Only Joana Hählen is among the established World Cup athletes. And with start number 14 she has no chance.

Durrer thus succeeds in the speed double at the Swiss championships for the second time after 2021. Only once does she have to tremble for the lead. Stephanie Jenal loses just eight hundredths of a second to the winner – and finishes second, just like in the downhill.

Juliana Suter in third ensures that the podium is exactly the same as the day before.

That was something to talk about

Nathalie Gröbli starts her last race with starting number 3. Last week she announced that she will retire at the age of 26. “In recent weeks I have noticed that my willingness to take risks is no longer there,” she explains her decision. In 2020 she crashed hard during a downhill training and suffered an open fracture of the tibia and fibula. An injury that delayed her standing up. Now she says goodbye to the ski stage with a 6th place.

The circumstances

Again no sun in Verbier. The sky is cloudy, the slope is gentle, especially at the bottom. Early starting numbers are therefore certainly not a disadvantage.

Here’s how to proceed

The Swiss have completed their last race. They say goodbye to their well-deserved vacation. (bir)
