Delia Durrer has already won two downhill championship titles at Swiss Championships.

Who won the downhill at the Swiss championships a year ago? Exactly: Delia Durrer (20). “That day in St. Moritz GR was just perfect. We had fantastic weather, my parents and colleagues were there, I was able to celebrate the success with them.”

But that’s not all. Two years ago, the native of Nidwalden in Zinal USA won the title in the highest discipline of skiing. Means: Now she could make a hat-trick in Verbier USA on Wednesday. “I don’t really know the track, we’ve only had one practice session. But I step on the gas and attack fully,” said Durrer.

High after concussion

As with the last national championships, Verbier will also lack some speed champions – such as Lara Gut-Behrami (31), Corinne Suter (28) and Jasmine Flury (29). Durrer needn’t worry about that. Her first full World Cup season was good: she finished in the points six times.

“The highlight was definitely 13th place in Lake Louise – it was very emotional.” No wonder, since the passionate pianist was shocked a few weeks beforehand during the preparations. Durrer fell on his head during practice and suffered a concussion. “An uncertain time began. But I managed to master them well.”

It doesn’t matter if Durrer manages the downhill hat-trick or not. She is already looking forward to something: “I’m going to Ibiza and Malta for a week each with colleagues. It will definitely be fun. I’ll relax there and recharge my batteries.”
