For the first time since 2015 (when the advance to the final was successful), the U17 women’s national team is again participating in a European championship.
Thanks to goals from Sydney Schertenleib (8th), Anja Klingenstein (63rd) and Janina Egli (91st), Switzerland beat Slovenia 3-1 in Krsko and with it the third group match of the second qualifying round.
Before that, the team of coach Veronica Maglia had won 3-0 against Slovakia and 1-0 against Austria. The Swiss juniors finished the group in first place ahead of Slovenia, Austria and Slovakia without losing points.
