Remco Evenepoel was finally rewarded for his attractive riding style in the 3rd stage of the Tour of Catalonia. The Belgian attacked on the final climb to the La Molina ski station and took two seconds off his escape threat Primoz Roglic in the final sprint.

The two top drivers once again did not hide. Evenepoel pedaled hard with about 5km to go, only Roglic could follow the 23-year-old. Roglic, who was not in the lead, initially parried another attack before he had to let the exceptional talent go in the final meters.

In the general classification, the two are now level, with the Slovenian Roglic taking first place solely due to the better podium placements. The Italian Giulio Ciccone, who beat the two stars in a blood-curdling finish on Tuesday, was third after 180 km on Wednesday and holds this position in the general classification. Gino Mäder from Bern is the best Swiss in the general classification in 67th place, 22:37 minutes behind.

A preliminary decision for the overall victory could be made at the mountain finish in Lo Port on Friday. (SDA)
