Lugano fans make fun of Tanner Richard

Tanner Richard knows nothing: demonstrative stretching for the Curva Nord.

Last Thursday Tanner Richard of Geneva-Servette criticized the behavior of the Lugano fans during the second quarter-final (2-0 to Lugano). Spectators had thrown beer mugs, champagne glasses and all sorts of rubbish at the guest bench. A behavior that the striker rightly criticized.

Now Richard isn’t the type to make a murder pit out of his heart. So he bluntly dictated his opinion into the reporters’ microphones: “Just because these people pay for a ticket doesn’t give them the right to act like circus animals. I think they should show a little more class and show more respect .”

Whistles and hostile chants – everything is fine

This statement naturally caused a great deal of excitement in Ticino. During the warm-up for Tuesday’s game, the man with the shirt number 71 on his back was whistled and greeted with abuse. Throughout the game, every puck touched by the striker was accompanied by whistles – all as part of the industry-standard animosity between bitter opponents and their fans.

After the win, the tit-for-tat

After Lugano won the game after a few seconds of the first extra time, HC Lugano’s official Twitter account shared a photo of costumed fans holding up signs. It says “Circus Lugano” and “#71 Do you want to come?” (#71 Do you want to join?) to read.

An allusion to Richard’s statement from last Thursday and a well-dosed tit-for-tat with a bit of mockery and a lot of humour. Richard, who has not provoked for the last time, will certainly appreciate the efforts of the fans.

Tuesday’s defeat in Geneva means that Servette has to return to the Bianconeri Arena next Sunday. A way for the fans to play another prank on Richard?

The quarterfinal series has now been reduced to a best-of-three format, with hook-and-eye battles on the ice. And the sideshow with Richard and the Lugano fans offers plenty of entertainment without causing bad blood. Exciting to see who will deliver the final pun here.
