Stan Wawrinka adjusts his tournament calendar.

Stan Wawrinka (ATP 87) will not participate in the Masters 1000 tournament in Miami after the eighth finals in Indian Wells.

The 37-year-old from Vaud prefers to prepare for the clay court season. He has received a wild card from the organizers for the tournament in Estoril, which will start on April 3.

For example, Marc-Andrea Hüsler (ATP 47) is the only Swiss on the main tableau in Miami. The Zurich native, who lost in the first round of the last four tournaments on the ATP tour, will meet Spaniard Albert Ramos-Viñolas (ATP 51) at the start.

Bencic with day

Among the women, number 9 seed Belinda Bencic (WTA 9) benefits from a bye in the first round. Her first opponent is the Canadian Leylah Fernandez (WTA 53) or the Ukrainian Lesia Zurenko (WTA 81). Jil Teichmann (WTA 32) starts with the Czech Karolina Muchova (WTA 55).

Viktorija Golubic (WTA 116), who survived the qualification, will already be in action on Tuesday. The Zurich native takes on American wild card receiver Hailey Baptiste (WTA 280). (SDA)
