Jil Teichmann takes the first hurdle in Indian Wells.

Jil Teichmann (WTA 39) wins her first round match against American Ashlyn Krueger (WTA 154) 6:1, 6:4. This leads to a Swiss duel in Indian Wells.

After Teichmann clearly won the first set, she was only 0:3 behind in the second round. The 25-year-old Swiss is making a strong comeback – with five games in a row. And thus ensures participation in the 2nd round of the WTA 1000 tournament in California.

Third Swiss meeting

Teichmann meets compatriot Belinda Bencic (WTA 9), who enjoys a bye in the first round. The two Swiss women have met twice so far.

In 2017 Bencic won the quarterfinals in Taipei in straight sets, in 2021 Teichmann won the quarterfinals in Cincinnati without losing a set. (SDA)
