Riedi qualifies for the Indian Wells main draw

Leandro Riedi is one of three Swiss players serving in Indian Wells.

Leandro Riedi (ATP 135) is in the main draw of the Indian Wells ATP 1000 tournament. The Swiss wins the decisive qualifying round against the Frenchman Alexandre Muller (ATP 129) 6: 4, 6: 1.

In the first round, the 21-year-old from Zurich will meet the Briton Jack Draper (ATP 56).

A Swiss trio takes part in the men’s tournament in California. All three will play for the first time on Thursday. Marc-Andrea Hüsler (ATP 51) meets the Spaniard Pedro Martinez (ATP 120) and Stan Wawrinka (ATP 100) has to start against the Australian qualifier Aleksandar Vukic (ATP 186).

A day before her compatriots, Jil Teichmann (WTA 39) is serious. She starts the tournament on Wednesday against American Ashlyn Krueger (WTA 154). In the second round, a Swiss duel could ensue with Belinda Bencic. (bir/sda)
