Ski racer Aline Danioth was seriously injured on Sunday.

Beat Tschuor is concerned about the recent injury of Swiss ski racer Aline Danioth. “We were all shocked,” the women’s national coach reports to SRF. “I thought: there’s no such thing!”

Danioth was seriously injured during the European Cup giant slalom in Gällivare, Sweden, and tore a cruciate ligament for the fourth time in her career. Incredibly bitter.

“She lost the outer ski for a moment. Then there was a reaction. The ski grabbed again and then there was a twist on the knee and that was it,” says Tschuor. He was not in Gällivare himself, but in the meantime he was looking at the photos of the fateful scene.

“It’s very hard for me to accept that.”Aline Danieloth

What’s next for 24-year-old Danioth? The sixth of the 2023 World Cup slalom wrote on Instagram on Tuesday: “I broke my knee again. It is very difficult for me to accept that. There is a lot of darkness in me at the moment, but I hope that sooner or later I will find some light again.”

From Swiss-Ski’s side, there is nothing against a renewed comeback. “She will have our full support if she wants to,” promises Tschuor in the SRF interview. (yep)
