Chosen a quota woman, check mark behind it, we are diverse and that’s good. It does not matter whether it is a board member (as in our study), management or a committee. The picture is always the same: a row of men in gray coats and somewhere a woman with a colorful blouse stands out. That’s nonsense and it’s just not enough anymore.
We need more women, more good women. I’d even go so far as to say, it’s better not to have a wife than to have a quota wife. Because as long as she’s the only one, she’s always the exotic, the special case, the sore thumb. “How do you feel about that as a woman?” – I can’t hear the question anymore. Because it shows us in a hard way that we still have a long way to go before we reach equality.
Of course, in sport we depend on good groundwork, in the regional associations and in the clubs. Every conceivable body should aspire to be diverse. And although we celebrate Women’s Day on March 8, it should be emphasized that the theme of diversity is far from just about gender.
Finally, a very bad point: Blick Sport’s women’s quota is miserable. Of the 57 people who work in our editorial office, only 15 percent are women. I don’t have a good excuse. Because there isn’t. It’s lousy and not enough.
