The “Swiss” double victory in the desert

A nice picture from a Swiss perspective: Théo Pourchaire leads Ralph Boschung – and wins.

Théo Pourchaire started from pole position on Sunday, Boschung from the fifth row. But the duo soon came out on top together. Pourchaire made his tire stop after ten laps of 32, Boschung coming in on lap 14.

But the Swiss soon realized there was no escape for Pourchaire and focused on second place, 19 seconds behind. And there was no danger. Maloney, the pilot from Barbados, was more than half a minute behind at the finish.

Hinwil celebrate the French

The 19-year-old Frenchman from the ART team wins, saying: «I don’t want to celebrate too much. But if you finished second in the championship last year, everyone knows my target for 2023…»

Pourchaire and self-made man Boschung (who later panicked in Campos’ cockpit) now lead the overall standings. And Pourchaire (fifth on Saturday) was embraced by all Alfa-Sauber team members.

Valais Boschung euphoric

Ralph Boschung, who celebrated his first Formula 2 victory on Saturday at the 96th attempt, beams after second place in the feature race on Sunday: “I still can’t believe it, dreams of years have suddenly come true.”

The next two Formula 2 races are in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in two weeks as part of the GP schedule.
