Niklas Hartweg misses the top 10 in Nove Mesto.

Niklas Hartweg finished 12th in the pursuit at the World Cup in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic. The 23-year-old from Schwyz, who started the race from a good position after his 10th place in the sprint, missed a better result in standing shooting.

After the two lying stages, Hartweg was in full battle for a podium spot. Only his 13th and 14th shots of the day went wide. After that he could no longer keep up with the candidates in third place.

The first two places were never up for grabs: season dominator Johannes Thingnes Bö removed his older brother Tarjei Bö by 34 seconds. This in turn had 36 seconds reserve on the third placed Swede Martin Ponsiluoma.

Häcki-Gross gambles away a good starting position

The Swiss women give up their promising starting position on the shooting range when Marte Olsbu Röiseland wins. Lena Häcki-Gross, who started just 40 seconds behind, took three penalties after the first prone position.

Amy Baserga is the first Swiss to appear, 3:06 minutes behind and 29th after four penalties. (SDA/SME)
