Norwegian cross-country skier Haavard Solaas Taugböl (29) has had a frustrating World Cup. The course irritated him so much that after the shattered dream of a medal in the classic sprint at the Nordic World Championships in Planica, he was injured and had to end the season.

Eventually everything comes together. “Typical”, says Taugböl about his self-inflicted end of the season in the Norwegian newspaper “GD”. Because he fell after a race – in his opinion his opponent’s fault – with the Swede Marcus Grate and all his medal chances in the quarterfinals were lost, Taugböl could no longer control his emotions.

Door made of plywood instead of plaster

To vent his anger, he wanted to open the door to the cloakroom “what rabies”, but in a fit of anger he banged on it. He told «VG» how he thought this door was plaster, but unfortunately plywood.

Instead of the door, he only hurt himself by breaking his finger. This ends his season early. The anger about his quarter-finals at the World Cup continues to grow: “I think the disappointment will last for a long time and it will be difficult to watch the last World Cup races on television.” (dti)
