The Swiss women’s national team has a test match scheduled for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer. The team of new national coach Inka Grings welcomes China on Thursday 6 April in Lucerne.
The match against the number 14 in the world is the first international women’s match to be played in Lucerne. The 44-year-old German expects an opponent who will “challenge her team both playfully and physically”. Five days later, the Swiss team will have their next test when they play Iceland at Letzigrund in Zurich.
At the World Cup, Switzerland will meet the Philippines (July 21), Norway (July 25) and Go will receive New Zealand (July 30). Sally Julini is unable to attend the tournament. The 20-year-old Geneva resident, who is in France with Guingamp, tore a cruciate ligament in his right knee at a training camp in Marbella in February and will have to undergo surgery in the coming days.
