A Swiss American football player has been suspended for two years by the Swiss sports disciplinary authority for doping use.
The footballer only escapes the four-year suspension because the disciplinary body classifies him as a recreational athlete. The ban has been in effect since September 29, 2021, applies to all sports and will expire in the fall.
Caught because of package
The amateur athlete was caught because Swiss customs found five bottles with the substance ibutamoren, which increases muscle strength, among other things, during a postal check. The footballer to whom the program was addressed was then visited by the doping detectives, who carried out a doping test outside the competition. This control was also positive for ibutamoren.
In addition to the two-year suspension, the amateur athlete was fined 100 francs and also had to pay the procedural and analysis costs of 2,000 francs.
Any athlete with a license or membership in a club or federation can be prosecuted for violating anti-doping rules. (SDA)
