No internal Swiss qualification for big hill

Dominik Peter will no longer fly through the air at this World Cup.

This time there is no longer any need for a team-internal World Cup elimination battle for the Swiss ski jumpers. Dominik Peter pulled out of Planica early and has already returned home, Swiss-Ski reports.

The 21-year-old from Zurich was already at a disadvantage in internal qualifying before the competition on the normal hill. So now there is no world championship for him. Waiving upcoming World Cup duties after mutual agreement with the coaching team “for technical reasons”.

Only Deschwanden put anyway

Also means: On Friday, the same four athletes will be at the start on the big hill as last Saturday. In addition to Gregor Deschwand (19th place) and Simon Ammann (28th), who both showed decent performances in their first appearance at the World Cup, Killian Peier and 19-year-old talent Remo Imhof also return to kiss the hand.

Before they jumped on the small hill, there had been a fierce battle in the Swiss team for the four starting places of the World Championship. Only Deschwand, the most constant this winter, was set. The rest had to prove themselves in training – experienced and four-time Olympic champion Ammann. (mpe)
